Danann Crafts

'Danann Crafts is an online market place and store to promote and sell Irish Arts and Crafts worldwide. Giving every home a piece of Irish Treasure.'

A family run business by husband and wife team Sinéad and Peadar McMahon. Danann Crafts is situated in William Street, Lurgan. This local store celebrates and promotes local crafting talents. They are well-known for their workshops and always aim to provide something for everyone. The store was created to be a central hub for amateur and professional crafters alike, to promote some of Ireland’s most unique and precious bespoke pieces of craft.

Through the John Wilson Memorial Trust, Danann Crafts have been able to employ five additional part-time staff and develop their existing web presence. The extra marketing help has aided in social media campaigns. The additional staff has allowed proprietor Sinéad more time to work on workshop programs, kid’s workshops, event proposals and business meet-ups that can help push the business forward. They are currently working within five different community projects hosting workshops and have been taking at least two parties every week. Footfall in the shop is up by some 40%. This has been supported by the introduction of a pop-up café which has also proved popular.

Danann won an NI Business Award for Best Online market place in September 2017. They have also been recognised by community, youth and special needs groups for their work within this sector.

For the future Danann would like to employ another full time member of staff to assist with general administrative work and website management. This in turn will allow them to run more events and focus on other aspects of the business. They have also developed project plans for community group programmes, which will bring more business to the local towns and enhance employment in the Borough.
